Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG files can be several times larger than JPG for the same photo, since PNG is lossless. Converting to JPG is the usual fix when a file is too big for an email attachment, an upload limit, or just loading a page faster.

Frequently asked questions
Will I lose the transparent background?
Yes — JPG has no transparency channel, so any transparent areas in the PNG get filled with a solid background. If you need to keep transparency, stay on PNG or convert to WEBP instead.
How much smaller will the file be?
It depends heavily on the image, but photos routinely end up 3-10x smaller as JPG. Flat-color graphics (logos, screenshots with lots of solid color) shrink less dramatically.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every conversion and edit happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API and JavaScript. Files never leave your device.
