Why convert JPG to PNG?
JPG can't hold transparency, and re-saving one repeatedly compounds its compression artifacts. Converting to PNG first is the usual move before adding a transparent background, layering it into another design, or doing any further lossless editing.

Frequently asked questions
Will converting JPG to PNG fix existing compression artifacts?
No — PNG preserves whatever's already in the file exactly as-is. It stops further quality loss from additional saves, but it can't recover detail a JPG already lost.
Will the file get bigger?
Usually yes, often noticeably — PNG is lossless, so it can't compress a photo as tightly as JPG does. That's the tradeoff for no further quality loss.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every conversion and edit happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API and JavaScript. Files never leave your device.
