Convert HEIC to PNG

Why convert HEIC to PNG?

Most HEIC files are ordinary photos, and JPG is usually the better target for those. PNG is worth choosing instead when you need a lossless copy to edit further without compounding JPEG artifacts, or when the source has transparency.

Supported formats

This page defaults to HEIC in, PNG out, but the tool itself opens PNG, JPG/JPEG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG, HEIC/HEIF, or PDF, and can convert to PNG, JPG, WEBP, ICO, or PDF — change the output format in the Convert tab any time.

Frequently asked questions

Should I pick JPG or PNG for an iPhone photo?

JPG for most cases — it's smaller and just as sharable. Pick PNG if you plan to edit the image further and want to avoid re-compressing it, or if file size genuinely doesn't matter.

Is the decoding done on Apple's servers or somewhere else?

Neither — HEIC decoding happens entirely in your browser using a WebAssembly build of libheif. The file is never uploaded anywhere.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Every conversion and edit happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API and JavaScript. Files never leave your device.
