Why convert HEIC to JPG?
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default since iOS 11 — smaller files at the same quality, but plenty of non-Apple devices, older apps, and some upload forms still can't open them. JPG opens everywhere, no exceptions.

Why won't my iPhone photo open on my Windows PC or in an old app?
Windows only added native HEIC support fairly recently, and many apps and websites never added it at all. Converting to JPG sidesteps the problem entirely — it's been the universal photo format for decades.
Does converting from HEIC to JPG lose quality?
There's a small amount of re-compression since both formats are lossy, but at the default 92% quality it's not visible to the eye. You can also drop the quality slider lower if you specifically need a smaller file.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every conversion and edit happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API and JavaScript. Files never leave your device.
